Solar Panels Installed at Library
Monday October 24, 2011 saw the dedication of new solar panels on the roof of the Arlington Virginia Public Library. The panels were made possible by an American Recovery and Reinvestment grant from the US Department of Energy. The 250 panels were installed to help reduce the facility’s ‘peak demand’ energy usage, offset a portion of its electricity consumption, and ultimately save money.
Central Library was the ideal facility for a solar installation ideal facility for a solar photovoltaic system, due to its large, flat roof that can easily collect sunlight, coupled with previous AIRE energy efficiency improvements. You can learn more about the Library’s previous energy improvements here.
