Buildings

• Establish detailed baselines of building characteristics and energy use by building type (residential and non-residential)
• Investigate changes to Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) rules
• Finalize design for building energy performance labels and install labels in County Buildings

District Energy (DE) and Renewable Energy

• Evaluate legal and financial options for DE in Arlington
• Clarify DE-ready economics
• Conduct DE and DE-ready buildings workshop for engineers and architects
• Advance Integrated Energy Master Plan (IEMP) efforts in high-probability DE areas
• Evaluate solar potential in Arlington

Transportation

• Purchase fuel-efficiency vehicles and conduct smart fleet management
• Use B20 biodiesel in County and school fleet operations
• Install electric vehicle infrastructure for County fleet use
• Discuss link between Combined Heat & Power and streetcars

Education & Outreach

• Weave the Community Energy Plan into all aspects of County activities
• Identify specific metrics for monitoring progress toward Task Force goals
• Improve public energy literacy

Financial

• Promote existing Federal and State tax credits and other incentives for building efficiency improvements
• Establish clearinghouse for financial incentives
• Work with stakeholders to address financial incentive programs
