Aurora Hills Community Center
This facility is a combination library, community center, and until March 2008, a fire station. The opening of the new Fire Station 5 helped contribute to a 15 percent decline in energy intensity between 2007 and 2008 (although the old fire station continues as a storage facility). Operational improvements, including a lighting retrofit in 2011, have cut energy use by 40 percent from 2007.
