Cherrydale Library
At the Cherrydale Library, the AIRE program and Facilities Management retrofitted the lighting in 2008, realizing a 15% cut in electricity use. In 2009 AIRE replaced the aging heat pumps with new, ENERGY STAR qualified models, and replaced an electric tank water heater (in an unconditioned space) with a tankless water heater to cut energy use even further. The building is partially earth-bermed, providing natural insulation to help keep energy use in check. Cherrydale Library is now among the very most efficient buildings in the Arlington government inventory.
See the data and information below for more on the energy use and savings associated with this building.
