Justice Center (Detention Facility)

The ultimate in high-occupancy 24/7 operation, the Justice Center-Detention Facility has unique requirements that result in high energy use, including continuous ventilation, a high volume kitchen and a laundry facility, in addition to housing several hundred people. The energy- and water-saving performance contract completed in 2009 has already produced substantial water and electricity savings, and natural gas use will fall during the heating season.  Along with the Courts/Police portion of the Justice Center, the complex received the County’s first ENERGY STAR label in 2010, and earned it again for 2011.  This building shares a steam system and underground parking/multiuse area with Courts/Police.
