Room by Room – Tips for Your Home

It seems like the only game anyone plays anymore is “Angry Birds”. However, if you’re looking to learn and have fun at the same time, check out Energy Star’s nifty interactive house tool.

Here’s how you play: you click on the picture of the house at the bottom of the page (shown at the left, here). Then you can go room by room and click on blue stars in each room to view energy savings tips for that type of room.

Did you know that you can lower energy use by cleaning your lint trap? I sure didn’t. And second, when was the last time you replaced your washer and dryer? It may be time to find a new energy-efficient model that uses less water AND energy. Another basic tip is to always use cold water, if possible – this helps you save money and lowers the risk of colors leaching out of your clothes. Oh, there were DOZENS more easy tips that I won’t go into here — check it out for yourself.
